I teach 7th and 8th graders who are about 13-14 years old. The boys are very interested in video games. Recently it became known by the 8th grade boys that my husband was also interested in video games. (I heard them talking about video games and they were amazed when I knew what they were talking about).
This is a conversation I had in the hallway today with 2 of my 8th grade boys, C and B:
C: "Mrs. Lewis, does your husband play MW3?" (Modern Warfare 3 for those not in the know)
Me: "Um....he hasn't been playing that so I'm not sure. All I know is that his current favorite is Skyrim."
*Wide eyes from all the boys who had gathered
C: "That's sweet!"
B: "Your husband sounds like a stud."
Me: "Get to class."
But then I smile as I walk away. Yes, my husband is a stud. :)

Green and Red Salad with Mango-Ginger dressing
Since yesterday's skyline dish was on the unhealthy side, I decided to do something light and healthy today.
The salad:
Mixed greens (spinach,etc.)
2 red apples sliced thinly
2 cups of red grapes
2 ripe avocados thinly sliced
Wash, peel, slice and toss all together
The dressing:
1 cup mayo (I used lite miracle whip)
1/2 cup greek yogurt plain
1 tbsp orange zest (used an orange I found in the fridge!)
2 tbsps OJ
2 tsp ginger root
1/4 cup mango chutney
1/4 tsp salt and pepper
Whisk all together chill until ready to use. Mix with salad.
*Matt and I aren't big on loading the dressing on our salads, so next time I make this I plan on cutting it in half or only putting half on as it was just way too thick. But it had an awesome taste!

New idea: Skyline Lasagna
So I had some lasagna noodles left in the cabinet from my last lasagna creation (see January), and I wanted to get rid of them. I also noted that there was a can of Skyline in the cabinet..... Voila- the birth of an idea- Skyline Lasagna!!!
Basically I made skyline dip, but I did 2 layers of it with the lasagna noodles. So,
3 noodles on bottom
Layer of cream cheese
1/2 the can of skyline
(add onions here, but I didn't have any)
Repeat layers adding a nice layer of shredded cheddar on top.
Place in oven at 350 for 20 minutes:
